Sarah Wolff
Hello! My name is Sarah Wolff. I have been a visual arts and ceramics teacher at a large high school in Indianapolis for the past 23 years. I have experience teaching beginning through advanced hand building and potter’s wheel skills. I was also an active coach as well as student leadership and community service advisor. I am a recent transplant to the Chicago area where I have relocated due to a spousal job change and to be closer to family. I am excited to become a Chicagoan as well as grow as an artist and teacher through this next chapter at Lillstreet! The creation of my artwork- and sharing my passion for art by teaching others- has not only been a method of communication and self-expression, but has represented a parallel to life. Being an artist for me is not just about celebrating successes, it is also a way to learn to grow from disappointment and setbacks. The artistic journey has taught me, as a struggling perfectionist, to learn to accept imperfection as beauty and to focus on the process and personal growth rather than just product. There is something transformative, particularly when working with clay in the third dimension, about creating something that takes up space in the world around us.
