Explore world ceramic traditions and create works in response. Areas may include prehistoric Japanese Jomon vessels, Haniwa figures/animals, Chinese Han dynasty tomb sculptures, and highly decorated Minoan cups and vases. Drawing on inspiration from these works, demonstrations will focus on using slip brush painting, sgraffito, and additive techniques. This class is open to wheel throwers and hand builders Each student receives two shelves to store work, clay, and tools.
