Analıya Chalakova - Threads of Becoming
May 1 - June 13, 2026
Blending ancestral Bulgarian weaving traditions with modern, nature-inspired design, this work creates woven pieces that honor nature’s rhythms and the depth of human emotional landscapes.
This contemporary weaving series explores the connection between nature and humanity—how both evolve, heal, and renew through cyclical rhythms. Rooted in a mindful, contemporary practice, the work combines natural fibers, texture, and design to reflect emotional landscapes and the harmony between the natural world and inner life.
Aneliya Chalakova is a Chicago-based mixed media artist originally from Bulgaria. Her creative journey began early, leading her to study for five years at the “Dimitar Dobrovich” Fine Art School for Applied Arts, where she trained in weaving, painting, drawing, traditional and contemporary textile techniques. She later continued her education in Communication Design after moving to the United States.
With over 15 years of experience, Aneliya’s work moves between painting, ink, and contemporary weaving. Her practice is rooted in a deep connection to nature, human emotion, and everyday life. She is especially drawn to the beauty, fragility, and resilience of the natural world, with an ongoing intention to honor and preserve it through her work. Becoming a mother expanded her artistic voice, bringing a more intuitive, mindful, and layered approach to how she creates.
