ONLINE: Virtual Visiting Artist Program: Bundle Dye Workshop (1 Day)

Level: Workshop

Price: LAC Members $0.00 / Non-Members $0.00

Class Description

Please join us on Sunday, May 8 from 2-3 pm for an online event with Chicago-based Textiles Artist, Amy Taylor (she/her). This zoom event is FREE for our community! Amy\'s art practice dives deep into Natural Dye, creating beautifully dyed fabric and undergarments for her business, Ms. Amy Taylor, https://msamytaylor.com/

In honor of Mother’s Day, and the nurturing mentors who guide us, Amy will demonstrate Eco-friendly Bundle Dyeing techniques. Bundle dyeing is a method of transferring pigment from botanical materials directly onto fabric, creating unique patterns of color. Work along with Amy as she leads you through the process to create your very own, one-of-a-kind silk scarf using food safe ingredients in your kitchen. Explore the possibilities of onion skins, leftover coffee grounds, tea leaves, turmeric, cochineal, and smashed up avocado pits.

Optional $10 kits include a silk scarf and some ingredients. Feel free to save your own kitchen scraps to use during the workshop, too! The purchase of kits helps us to pay our Virtual Artists a fair stipend for their time and expertise.

This event is family friendly and open to ages 8+ when accompanied by an adult. Our Virtual Artist Program Bundle Dye Workshop is a great way to connect with family and friends, wherever you are located! After registering, you will receive a zoom link. You can register through our website, or by calling Lillstreet Art Center at 773-769-4226
