Plein Air Impressionism

Plein Air Impressionism (9 Weeks)

Level: MultiLevel

Price: LAC Members $305.00 / Non-Members $315.00

Class Description

Join us in venturing outdoors to experience the thrill of painting landscapes in plein air. Popularized in the late 19th century by the French impressionists, this practice led to breakthroughs in the use of color and expressive mark making that continue to influence artists today. In this class you will learn how to use oil paints to capture the ephemeral and changing qualities of light, and to make decisions about composition and color. You will also experiment with mark-making and the loosening of your brushwork to quickly get the essence of what you see onto your canvas. Recommended: Beginning Drawing, Beginning Oil Painting, or previous painting experience * Please note: Students are responsible for providing their own portable easel for plein air painting sessions
