ONLINE: Virtual Visiting Artist Program: Artist Lecture and Macrame Basics with Ben Cuevas (1 Day)

Level: Workshop

Price: LAC Members $0.00 / Non-Members $0.00

Class Description

Please join us on Saturday, July 10 from 6-7pm CST for an online event with Los Angeles based multi-media Artist, Ben Cuevas. This zoom event is FREE to our community!

Ben’s dynamic work is centered in queer-feminist ideology and explores his identity as a queer, non-binary, HIV positive, Latinx Artist. Learn about how Ben uses his art as activism to raise awareness around issues of HIV/AIDS. Ben’s art practice spans textiles, sculpture, installation, photography, video, sound and performance. His textiles work explores the possibilities of macrame, and hand and machine knitting.

Ben will generously take us into his studio as he shares his textiles-based art practice with us. He will also demonstrate some of the macrame knotting techniques used in his work. You are welcome to work along with Ben as you learn the basics of macrame while creating your own keychain.

While we are thrilled to offer the Textiles Virtual Artist Program at no cost to our community, we do encourage you to consider making a donation in lieu of an attendance fee. Ben is raising funds for Visual AIDS. If you are financially able to, donations can be made at,

Thank you very much for your consideration of attendance and a donation! We hope to see you on July 10 for this very special event!
