Class Description

Join us online and learn basic metalsmithing techniques from the comfort of your home. Through guided projects, demonstrations, and discussion, we will cover fundamental skills, including sawing, filing, texturing, and patination, as well as the basics of fabricating with cold connections and tab-setting stones. We will focus on selecting and making the most of limited tools and space while also navigating best practices and safety for making in the same places we live. All levels welcome.

4 1”x1” Copper squares, 5ft ea of 14 ga & 18 ga copper wire & Sandpaper - 240 grit, 320 grit, 400 grit, 600 grit, & a wood block

*This class requires a home studio investment purchase for tools and material of $150+.  On day one, your instructor will guide you through what it takes to start a home metalsmithing studio discussing studio set-up needs, tools and material needs, and safety.  Personal tool investment purchases can be made during or after the first day of class so you can confidently make studio investments with your instructor’s professional in-class guidance.

This interactive online class is presented via Zoom. Please download Zoom (, and register your email address prior to your first class.

You will be emailed Zoom meeting instructions, including a unique URL and meeting code to join the class at least 1 day before the start of the class. If you do not receive an email from your instructor or registered within 24 hours of the first scheduled class, please contact the front desk ASAP.

Class cancellations can happen if enrollment minimums are not met 2 days prior to the first class. If your class is canceled, you will be contacted via phone or email.

If your class comes with a required or optional kit:  All kits will be available for contactless pick-up the weekend prior to the session's start date. Please call before picking up to confirm that the kit is ready.
