Student Information

$20 kit includes bone folder, awl, large needle, waxed thread, PVA glue, brush, pre-cut book board, monotype paper and plate, craft knife, matboard to use as cutting mat. Students may decline kit if they already have supplies. Or students may choose to source these supplies on their own.

Additionally, students will need to purchase the following in advance in order to complete their prints and books:

-Soft rubber brayer: we recommend 3” or 4” Speedball. This 2 1/2” Scratch-Art Brayer will work, but is not quite as nice. Just be sure to get a soft rubber brayer.

-Water miscible ink, which cleans up with dish soap and hot water, but dries permanent: we recommend Charbonnel Aquawash 59 ml Black tube. Akua 60 ml Black jar, or Speedball 2.5 oz. Black Fabric and Paper Block Printing Ink will also work. The instructor recommends 2-3 colors.

-Paper for the text pages in their books. We recommend this sketch pad.

Students need to provide their own pencil, eraser, 12” or 18” metal edge ruler, waxed paper for palette, plastic take-out or yogurt cups for glue and water, and clean-up supplies. A list of optional supplies will be available from the instructor.
