Class Description

Develop the skills to make your own wall hangings and woven projects by learning the basics of needle weaving. Each week, practice popular techniques like plain weave, twill, soumak, and more. We will also discuss weaving history, terminology, tools, and finishing. You’ll end with skills and samples to be proud of. Ages 13 and up are welcome to register for this class.

Student Information

Optional kit includes:

  • Some yarn and roving (designate choice of bright or neutral colors when you pick up your kit)
  • 2 netting shuttles
  • 1 tapestry needle


Supplies students need:

  • Frame loom weaving kit with wooden comb, bobbin and shuttles, option for rental from Lillstreet Art Center
  • Additional yarn and roving of your choice

This interactive online class is presented via Zoom. Please download Zoom (, and register your email address prior to your first class.

You will be emailed Zoom meeting instructions, including a unique URL and meeting code to join the class at least 1 day before the start of the class. If you do not receive an email from your instructor or registered within 24 hours of the first scheduled class, please contact the front desk ASAP by responding to this email.

Class cancellations can happen if enrollment minimums are not met 2 days prior to the first class. If your class is canceled, you will be contacted via phone or email.

If your class comes with a required or optional kit:  All kits will be available for contactless pick-up the weekend prior to the start date.
