Class Description

Whether you're repairing an old favorite or tailoring a new garment to your body, this class fits perfectly! Learn to take shirts in and jeans up, mend holes, fix hems, and sew on buttons. Come to this online class with your uncompleted mending and alterations projects. We will complete them together with demonstrations. Ages 13 and up, with required prerequisites, are welcome to register for this class. Prerequisite: First-Time Sewing or equivalent experience

Student Information

Supplies students need:

  • A garment or two to work on
  • Scrap fabric to practice mending instruction
  • Thread
  • Fabric scissors
  • Hand sewing needles
  • Sewing pins
  • Safety pins
  • Seam ripper
  • Tailors chalk, disappearing marker or fabric pencil
  • Measuring tape
  • Ruler, example, or similar (optional)
  • Some double sided interfacing for patches (optional)
  • Thimble (optional)
  • Sewing machine (optional but recommended)


You will be emailed Zoom meeting instructions, including a unique URL and meeting code to join the class at least 1 day before the start of the class. If you do not receive an email from your instructor or registered within 24 hours of the first scheduled class, please contact the front desk ASAP.

Class cancellations can happen if enrollment minimums are not met 2 days prior to the first class. If your class is canceled, you will be contacted via phone or email.

If your class comes with a required or optional kit:  All kits will be available for contactless pick-up the weekend prior to the session's start date, Thursday, September 10 (Session I) & Thursday, October 15 (Session II), between 12-3 pm.
