Fusing, Granulation, Soldering, and Foldforming With Argentium Silver (3 Days)
Level: Visiting Artist Workshops
Price: LAC Members $495.00 / Non-Members $495.00
Argentium Sterling (AS) is an alloy containing Germanium and more than 92.5% pure silver. It conducts heat differently than sterling, is highly tarnish-resistant, firescale free and can be hardened in a toaster oven or kiln. Argentium is more malleable and easier to granulate, fold form and fuse than sterling. Methods for annealing and hardening will be demonstrated. Samples or finished pieces can be created. Prerequisite: Two Beginning Metalsmithing classes.
